bookmarks for a bookworm…

The words on back

I LOVE books. Don’t we all? Have no idea how I would have survived  without books to fall back upon. They are your company, your solace on lonely nights and rainy weekends, your guide when life is a bit rough…

So well, I had to make bookmarks. These are for a very dear friend, as a birthday gift. :)

Flowers on front

I made these flowers in CorelDraw. Printed on normal paper. Tied with ribbons and fabric. :)

boxes

I had created sth tiny out of clay for a friend. But then, there was absolutely nothing in which I could pack it and gift wrap. So I took a thick sheet of handmade paper and cut out a box out of it. Then all I had to do was print out a pattern on sticky sheet and paste it on top to add more color to it. Finished up with a blue ribbon. :)

Pottering about…

I bought this plain white food tray from a local flea market, at very cheap rates. ;) The moment I had seen them, I knew I had to buy one and try my hand at painting it. And I was in such a hurry (as usual) that I didn’t use any stencil, or any rough pencil sketch, but started painting right away with a brush…

See! But it was not-so-easy as the height of the rim of the tray (I guess you cal it rim, right?) was too much to make the painting easy; or I should have been left-handed! :P So I just painted it upside-down lolz :D

Here’s a close-up of the painting, and only in that you get to see how much ou-of-practise I have been :P

The adventures of the happy pillowcase

Once upon a time, there was a nice, happy canary yellow pillowcase. It nestled in it’s own bed and had fun bringing light n sunshine in an otherwise dull room. in this way, it passed its life happily. But then, one day,  the sunshine was overcome by huge, dark clouds. A lit matchstick fell on it and burned a hole in it. The poor pillowcase was saddened by it and started losing all its color. Then, a fairy took pity on it. She couldn’t mend the hole, she said, but she could give the pillowcase a  new life, a new look. And then she waved her magic wand....

And presto! The happy pillowcase turned into a beautiful skirt!! :D

So I have been away…

It’s been a really long time since I last posted. Let’s just say that I was affected by the mortality and eventual futilty of everything and was trying to understand if crafting is neccessary…

I still can’t say if it is important or neccessary; but I do know it feels great to make something nice/beautiful/useful from my own hands; that it makes my life more fulfilling. So after depriving myself for so long from this world, I have come back. :)

And what better way, than to post sth I made? ;)

Here’s  a lovely brooch made out of golden tissue and a vintage button(which belonged to my mother). I made this after looking at tutorials on this at net. unfortunately, this was long back, so I don’t have the links for it right now. :(

But if someone wants it, I can post up a tutorial of how I made this. The pics aren’t really great (!!) as they are taken from a mobile. :( Sorry for that…and I promise, I will be posting back again real soon. :)

Have a beautiful crafty day, everyone! :)

Pincushions

I made a few pincushions after reading this and this…

These are photos of the first experiments…and they didn’t come out well :( but thankfully, the later ones did (I dunno why but my stitching projects are always jinxed - they never come out nicely the first time).

Will put up photos - as soon as I take them - which will be like, a light year or so  :P

Delicious!

I made this li’l cherry tomato as a gift for a special friend…

It’s made of clay and stands hardly an inch ….am just learning all this though. My hand isn’t as set yet; there are areas that need improving.

Hello world! Meet me, the creatist. Why the creatist? well, for one, I am an artist who creates. For another, this word - creatist - is my humble invention - patent pending. :)
